Waseda University School of International Liberal Studies (SILS, ) is the 10th department established in 2004 under the Faculty of International Research and Education.〔(学術院、学部・研究科および専門職大学院 )〕〔(国際教養学部について )〕 The School of International Liberal Studies conducts all classes in English under the premise of multiculturalism, which is not limited to a certain language or culture. The students who speak Japanese follow Study Plan 1 (''SP1'') and those who speak other languages other than Japanese follow Study Plan 2 (''SP2''). The students from foreign institutes as exchange students follow Study Plan 3 (''SP3''). It is mandatory for the Study Plan 1 students to study abroad prior to their graduation. One third of students and faculty members are foreign nationals. According to the data from Waseda University Center for International Education (''CIE'') released in May 2014, 662 foreign national students are attending the School of International Studies as full-time students. It is the largest number compared to the other departments in Waseda University. The ratio of foreign national students at the School of International Liberal Studies is 17.27% of whole of those at Waseda University.〔(2014年度前期(春学期) 早稲田大学 外国人学生在籍数 )〕 == Location == The School of International Liberal Studies was located at building 19 until 2009 when its new facility, building 11 was officially opened. The School of International Liberal Studies is sharing the current building with the School of Commerce.
